I remember, years ago, when I was an aoljournals blogger, John Scalzi was the editor, and he often traveled. When he did, he'd post a picture of the view outside his motel window. Whatever it was, that was what he showed us. So I did the same today... the view from my window, looking out on the beach. I don't think I've mentioned to anyone where I am. So where am I? There are some clues in the picture. Anyone a beach expert, traveler, vacationer might recognize the strip?
Well, now this might give it away! |
There was a white bird walking on the beach, which took to flight just as I lifted my camera to take its photo. I think it's an egret. |
I have no idea, but it looks nice wherever it is! Tis bucketing down rain here! xxoo
ReplyDeletethanks, Marie... we were in Florida, at Daytona Beach. Generally we don't vacation that far from home, as we have lovely beaches right here in North Carolina, but my nephew had one of those time-shares and offered us a week wherever we wanted, so we chose this place. It was the best weather, the best time we've ever had at a beach since our son left home. We've had 16 years of vacationing apart from him, but this one week was probably the best for my hub and me!
DeleteI don't know where you are, but I'm sure you're having a very lovely time!!!
ReplyDeleteYes, Lori, it was lovely. Daytona Beach, Florida. Thanks for responding!!
DeleteI don't get around enough to know where you are...but I'm glad to see you are enjoying your summer! - Barbara

We did, Barbara... Daytona, Florida... the beach is so wide, and the sand so packed that cars are permitted to drive on the beach (in respect to the tide, of course), and park. Even with the cars occasionally driving past, the beach is wide enough for sun-bathers to lounge, and kids to play. It was a lovely week, good weather. thanks for the comment, Barbara!
DeleteLovely photo, and I see there is a pool, also. I usually like to lounge by the pool while on vacation, when everyone else in the family prefers the beach. For some reason as I get older, I don't like sand in my bathing suit. I was guessing Florida, as I used to write to an AOL friend there, who I lost when AOL closed. I then cheated and checked out the name of your hotel and it did say "Daytona Beach", Florida. Do I score any brownie points, LOL?
ReplyDeletePoint!!! Yes, Daytona Beach, Florida. But today I am in Baltimore, MD... visiting my son. It's been a very busy summer, but school starts back next week. thanks for your comment, Rose!
DeleteBeautiful!! I have been to Daytona but its been a while. Glad you took vacation this summer. I am really trying to get back into blogging. I miss my journal friends so very much. I have not figured out this blogger thing at all but I'm trying. Hope you visit me!! http://quiltofmanycolors.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeletethank you Shelly... for me now it's a matter of having enough time to give up for the blogging. And most days there are just too many other things I have to do or that feel more important, you know? I love blogging. But being prepared for the classroom trumps bloggin 95% of the time!! So looking forward to retirement!
DeleteDaytona!! Love that area!
ReplyDeleteI'm in NC too! and by the Sea.
Come over.....

Hi Sharon, thanks for the comment. I'll come visit your blog! Which beach do you live by/at?
ReplyDeleteHi Bea, Of course I know by know that it's Florida.... but it also looks a lot like our beaches here in Queensland, Australia! I'd love you to visit me at Dream Painters! :)
ReplyDeleteWow, I really liked your blog, Elizabeth... you had so many great ideas for art teachers. I loved the Paper 3-D toys. I think I'll try to do this with my 3rd graders. What was the youngest level of students you have done the 3D toys with?
DeleteHi Bea,
DeleteThanks for your comment on Dream Painters, I've sent you a reply by email as you had a few questions about the after-school classes :)
I really like the colors you have achieved with the markers - I've been saving my old markers to have a go at it.
The youngest kids are about 5. They loved creating their 3D characters, but as the success of the paper toy depends on accurate cutting out, this was one where I gave the little ones some hands-on help with the cutting (which I don't usually do!). Some still did their own cutting - and cut off the tabs (would you believe I even had a couple of older students do that?) but I just used masking tape to fix them and they worked fine! :) Elizabeth
Nice place
